What I Love Wednesday 5/7/13

Yes, we are going to completely ignore the fact that I keep disappearing for extended periods of time. Here are my weekly favorites instead.

I have been collecting Disney Trading Pins for almost a year now and I'm still in love with them. They are a really fun collectible and I just keep them on a cork-board in our 'game/craft room'. I have won quite a few off of Ebay and even purchased a few from some Disney enthusiasts on Instagram. It's so magical every time I get to add a new pin to my collection.

I keep somehow finding this German Rapunzel Fairytale plate on Etsy and I think it is starting to become a 'want' for me. She's so beautiful and I love how it looks. I just need to figure out where to put it. This same shop also has a Hansel and Gretel plate but I'm not sure if I would snag that one up too as I don't want it to become a 'collection'. I already collect too much.

I purchased one of the mason jar mugs a few weeks ago at work (although mine has a mug handle on it) and it has become my preferred beverage container. For some reason these make drinks taste so cold on a hot day. I can't explain the wizardry behind them, but I'm really loving the look and purpose of them.

Nirvana has to be my third favorite band of all time (placing after Led Zeppelin and Coheed and Cambria) and I can listen to them all day. Their music still sounds modern and interesting even after all these years and I have been playing the heck out of them since Ryder Burgin (FootOfAFerret) included them (and Foo Fighters) in his 'A Brief History' series. I also think sometimes that if I were in the music industry (different time/ different place) that Dave Grohl would be my husband because I love his drive to make music, his inspiration, and his strength. Also his rugged look is a bonus.

Guys, guys! I got a tattoo this weekend. I'm both thrilled and in pain. I got this little beauty on my left shoulder and as cute as it is, it hurt like a b****. As I was expecting some pain, the outline didn't hurt at all, the shading hurt a little but by the time we got to the color, I was dying. I got this from a guy I've known since the 7th grade (Mikey Ortiz) and he's been back and forth between tattoo shops but now operates from home. That made me a little skeptical, but looking at his previous work and knowing that he worked under one of my co-workers/friend's cousin, I was confident with him. We were about halfway done with my outline and he asks how many tattoos I have... 'None'. He kind of stops, a little surprised, 'Why didn't you tell me?! Most people only get something small as their first tattoo!' We laughed about it and I told him that I wanted my first tattoo to be something I actually liked and not something silly like stars or an infinity symbol (not that there is anything wrong with those tattoos!) and how I have a very specific vision in my mind when it comes to tattoos.

That's all for this week, guys. How 'bout a little Nirvana-themed playlist with my favorite songs?

My Disney / YouTube Project

Hello friends. It's been such a long time since I have blogged anything (I do have a bow tutorial in the works and would also like to get a few wreath tutorials posted as well before Valentine's Day). But here is a microscopic peek into my current YouTube project.

Without giving it all away, I am working on something Disney related that will hopefully be appearing on YouTube within the next month. I seriously wish I had better means of editing videos, but I am a firm believer that content wins over the amount of slaving away that editing can provide. And I can just use the editor that YouTube provides until I am able to purchase better video editing software (assuming my craptop laptop could handle it).

Here are a few Disney pictures I am using for inspiration:

How cute are these chibi like drawings of Disney's female characters, Male characters and female antagonists as busts? I saw them and saved them to the computer immediately! I am in love with the style.

And how about these Female Disney-Inspired Chibi pinups?

Here is also a photo of Disney characters if they had to participate in the Hunger Games. I snagged this picture from a Huffington post article. I kind of hate the way they divided them into the districts that mirror the actual books and think it would be really interesting if they would have come up with their own special exports for their districts. I dunno...

That's all I can reveal at this time. I'll be sure to keep you all updated once the videos/ drawings start appearing. I've finally finished planning it out on paper and can get around to my draft drawings.

What I Love Wednesday 8.28.13

I cannot believe how quickly Wednesdays come and go! Here is what I am loving this week:

PicMonkey Photo Editing

Since I have moved, some of my things have obviously gotten lost in transit. This includes my Paint Shop Pro X CD which I use to edit all of my photos, and that of course includes the pictures I take for the shop that I use to advertise my items. Upon browsing several forums for which *free* photo editing website was the best, I found PicMonkey. They haven't let me down yet!

Creepy Doll Head Garland

You all remember how I said I was into creepy things? This would be one of these things. I desperately want to get one of these garlands for the Halloween party we're going to be hosting in two months, but it is soooo expensive because it is handmade. Also, it is not long enough. I am hoping that maybe I can replicate one in time. I'm just not sure where to start with this without getting the other people I would need to be involved, creeped out.

Puffy Food Stickers

What? Yes, this is what I've been spending a lot of time looking at. For a few good reasons though. I have a small Ball Jointed Doll which these would make the cutest picture stories and posters for if I used them and for resin making (I would put these inside). Needless to say I have been favoriting these left and right. They're so cute!

Gargoyles

I think that growing up with the cartoon series Gargoyles on Disney Channel as well as the animated Hunchback of Notre Dame  had something to do with my continuing fascination with these creepy creatures. I have always wanted to put them in my future garden rather than some silly little garden gnomes. Maybe Halloween will be a good excuse to invest in one then I will just casually leave him sitting outside. Heh heh.

ModCloth Lace Bowling Shirt

This final item is the one item on ModCloth I keep returning to (aside from the shoes on there, that's another story entirely). I am obsessed with the way this shirt is made. How it looks like a man's bowling league shirt, but it's lacy and feminine and fun. I may have to add it to the virtual cart of no return next payday.

That's five! I am so sorry the crafty posts have subsided! I promise I'll be posting something tomorrow!

What I Love Wednesday

First of all, I know what you're thinking, 'It's Thursday, It's Thursday,' I know, but this has been a draft since yesterday if that counts. I want to post weekly and this will be good filler for when I can't make a crafting post. I am determined to make this  a weekly Wednesday thing. So here are my top 5 loved things from this week.

FUNKO POP VINYL FIGURINES

Alright, so if you have known me a while, you know that I am actively collecting these and I have 10 on my shelf as of last night when I added Superman and Captain Jack Sparrow. The two above are the next two I'm looking to add along with oh, all of them. I just love these. They are all so cute and make any character come to life in a fun cartoon fashion.

FUNTASMA SHOES AND PUMPS

These shoes are all so gorgeous! I found them while searching for shoes for my Halloween costume (I'm going to be Bride of Frankenstein). They have so many makes and designs which range from blood splatters to Lolita-like platforms. I believe they're all costume shoes, but I would wear these every day if I never had to worry about what to wear to work. I want them all.

LEGGINGS & TIGHTS

Fall is nearly upon us and leggings are my favorite thing to wear in the fall. I say 'boo hoo' to those people who say not to wear leggings as pants because obviously they have only seen people wearing them with a shirt that's not long enough rather than a tunic or a dress. I found the pair above on Etsy and I am in love with the pattern and the colors. If you're one of these people wearing leggings/ tights wrong, correct it and try again and shame on us for making us all look bad!

SPIKY MUGS

I found these mugs on Etsy as well. I have an odd obsession with mugs, which is weird as I rarely drink coffee. However, I do enjoy a nice cup of tea and a hot chocolate once in a while. These mugs are fun and quirky and accurately expresses how I feel most mornings.

THE ROAD (movie)

My boyfriend and I purchased this film while in Colorado Springs a few weeks ago in Entertainmart. I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never seen it before, but expected great things as Viggo Mortensen is in it as the main characters and it was made from a book. This is a post-apocalyptic eye-opener and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It really is a sad movie though, so don't watch it without a box of tissues with you!

I hope you enjoyed this little collection of my favorite things of the week and I like I said, I want it to be a weekly thing. See you next time!
